Viscose is made from wood pulp—it is neither a pure natural fiber like cotton nor a synthetic like polyester. It's a semi-natural material that combines the absorbency of cotton with the lightness and subtle sheen of synthetic fabrics.

In practice, this means a dress that doesn't stiffen in the heat, doesn't get static like polyester, and has a beautiful, fluid movement when walking. Viscose wicks moisture well, so it doesn't stick to the skin on warmer days, and handles cool afternoons without feeling cold. What's more, it takes deep, saturated colors—which is why black, navy, and graphite viscose dresses look more expensive than their synthetic counterparts.

However, softness has a downside: pure viscose is prone to wrinkling and requires delicate washing. That's why, in most models, we combine it with a small blend of nylon, polyamide, or elastane—we explain the purpose of this blend below. It's worth remembering that fabric isn't seasonal. Viscose dresses can be worn for most of the year—on their own in summer, with a turtleneck underneath and thicker tights in autumn. Do Viscose Dresses Wrinkle, and How to Deal with It?

Yes, viscose dresses wrinkle—that's an honest answer, and there's no point in hiding it. Viscose is a soft fiber with low elasticity, so it will crease under a car seatbelt, in an office chair, or after a day spent in a backpack. The extent depends on the weave, grammage, and blend: the more viscose in the composition and the lighter the fabric, the more easily it wrinkles.

The good news is that viscose smooths out faster than linen, and unlike linen, the wrinkles in viscose are not sharp but soft, wavy, and less noticeable. Just hang the dress on a hanger in the bathroom overnight after a shower, and the steam will smooth the fabric without an iron. In the morning, the dress is ready to wear.

If you're looking for a dress that's more forgiving, pay attention to two elements in the product description. The first is the composition—models with a blend of elastane or nylon return to shape faster than pure viscose. The second is the weave: ribbed viscose knit is much less prone to wrinkling than smooth fabric, because the vertical ribbing masks minor creases.

Practical advice: iron viscose with steam, not a dry iron pressed against the fabric. A fabric freshener or a short steaming from a few centimeters away is enough for most everyday wrinkles. 100% Viscose Dress vs. Viscose with Nylon and Elastane

A 100% viscose dress and a viscose dress with a blend are two different choices, not two quality levels. Pure viscose is the softest, best-draping version of this fiber—but also the most demanding to wash and the fastest to wrinkle. A blend of nylon, polyamide, or elastane in an amount of 7 to 15% changes several things at once: it provides durability, shape retention after stretching, and less susceptibility to wrinkling, without taking away viscose's main advantage, which is its soft, absorbent character.

Models with a blend make up the majority of the collection. Most often, this is 85% viscose with 15% nylon or polyamide—a knit fabric that returns to shape for years and doesn't stretch at the elbows or waist. A separate group consists of dresses with 7% elastane, where the blend is responsible for elasticity and fitting the figure. Elastane is not a filler here—it's a deliberate solution that allows a fitted dress to maintain its shape after a full day of wear.

Simple Viscose Dresses — Styles That Work

Viscose Dress and Your Silhouette — Which Cut Slims the Tummy?

Which viscose dress cut slims the tummy? Two solutions work best: a wrap cut with a front overlay and a dress with a raised waistline, marked just under the bust. Both constructions draw attention away from the widest point of the torso and optically lengthen the lower part of the silhouette. Viscose helps in this effect because it flows softly downwards and does not create stiff folds at the waist.

The wrap cut works through the diagonal line of the overlap. This line runs diagonally from one hip towards the opposite shoulder, crossing the tummy diagonally—and a diagonal always slims more than a horizontal line. In addition, the tie at the waist allows you to adjust the tightness where it best suits your figure, not where the tailor put the seam.

A raised waist, on the other hand, "leads" the observer's eye just under the bust, and from there, the fabric flows loosely downwards. The tummy disappears under the soft, flowing material, and the silhouette appears taller. This cut looks good in midi and maxi versions, worse in mini, where proportions can be distorted.

A third useful variant is a thin-strapped dress with a seam under the bust and a flared bottom—a so-called babydoll cut in a softer, adult version. However, it's best to avoid cuts with a horizontal seam at hip level and with elastic cinched exactly at the navel line—both of these constructions do the opposite.

Washing Viscose Dresses — How Not to Damage the Fabric

Washing a viscose dress requires delicacy but isn't complicated. There are four rules: wash at temperatures up to 30°C, use a delicate cycle, do not bleach, and do not tumble dry. Sticking to these four points is enough for the dress to serve you for seasons without losing color or shape.

Temperature is the most important parameter. Viscose shrinks in hot water and loses elasticity—a dress washed once at 60°C might come out of the washing machine half a size smaller and with a wrinkled texture. 30°C is a safe limit for all compositions we have in the collection, including those with elastane and nylon blends.

A tumble dryer works poorly in two ways: high temperatures shrink the fibers, and mechanical tumbling in hot air stretches areas where the dress hangs under its own weight. A viscose dress should be air-dried on a hanger, in the shade, away from radiators. Satin models are best dried flat to avoid hanger marks on the shoulders.

Ironing: with steam, at a low temperature, preferably through a thin cotton cloth or on the wrong side of the fabric. Viscose satin does not tolerate contact with a hot iron plate on the right side—shiny marks may appear. We advise against dry cleaning—the chemicals used in dry cleaners are too aggressive for soft viscose.
